Explore the natural motifs used by various brands

Many brands incorporate natural elements - such as flowers and animals - into their decorations, logos and branding. The reasons for this choice range from simple personal significance to purely aesthetic considerations. An emblematic case is the Lamborghini logo. Featuring a “bull” in motion with a three-dimensional effect, it symbolizes power, vitality and aggression - qualities that reflect the brand’s iconic cars. However, the bull was probably chosen because it is the zodiac symbol of Ferruccio Lamborghini, born on 28 April 1916.

Over time, these elements, whether used in logos, collections or simply in decorative patterns, evolve into true symbols of a brand's identity.

In this first chapter of “The Symbols of Nature in the Brands”, let's explore the natural motifs used by various brands.

BVLGARI - Snake

One of Bvlgari's most renowned symbols is certainly the SNAKE - an ambivalent figure representing both ancient allure and modern elegance. It also reflects the origins of its founder Sotiros Voulgaris, who was Greek by birth and Roman by adoption. With deep roots in both ancient Rome and Greece, the snake has significantly influenced the brand’s design. In Roman mythology, it symbolizes wisdom and protection, while in Greek mythology, it represents the deity of healing.

The first SERPENTI collection, launched in 1948, introduced innovative watches that included the “Tubogas” technique. This method allowed for the creation of flexible, lightweight bracelets by wrapping thin metal strips around a wooden core. The resulting sinuous and coiling design resembled a snake, inspiring the collection's name. Beyond aesthetics, the snake embodies deeper symbolism—its ability to shed its skin represents rebirth, transformation, and renewal, all of which are at the heart of the brand’s identity.

CARTIER - Panther

An iconic symbol of the French Maison, founded by Louis-François Cartier in 1847, the PANTHER embodies the art, style and personal history of the Maison. Emerging in the 1910s and 1920s, the PANTHER owes its creation to Jeanne Troussaint, the Belgian French jeweler and stylist, the artistic director and leading figure of the French fashion house.

Fascinated by the feline’s elegance and strength, Toussaint identified with it so deeply that she earned the nickname “La Panthère”. In 1914, the panther made its first appearance in Cartier’s creations with a watch featuring a spotted pattern reminiscent of the animal’s fur.

Today, the panther remains a timeless symbol of luxury, present in all Cartier jewelry - from watches to necklaces, bracelets, and rings - representing audacity, femininity, and power.

CHANEL – Camelia

The CAMELIA, Coco Chanel's favorite flower, is a perfect example of how a personal element can become a distinctive icon of a brand.

Chosen for its refinement, absence of scent and lack of thorns, the camellia also had a cultural significance. It was the associated with the protagonist of the novel “La Dame aux Camelias” by Alexandre Dumas fils, a novel that deeply influenced Coco Chanel and with which she identified.

Coco Chanel loved wearing camellia brooches made of fabric, silk or cotton, pinning them on her clothes and hats.

The 1920s marked the flower’s first appearance in the brand’s history, initially as an accessory.

Since then, the CAMELIA has been reinterpreted in various forms - from clothing embellishments and embossed buttons to jewelry pieces like brooches, rings, and necklaces, as well as leather goods.

As symbol of purity, elegance and simplicity, it embodies Chanel's soul and style philosophy.

MULBERRY – Mulberry tree

The British brand Mulberry, renowned for its luxury leather goods - in particular bags and accessories - features a logo inspired by its namesake: the mulberry tree.

A symbol of British craftsmanship, connection with nature and enduring luxury, the logo showcases a stylized tree with rounded leaves.

The mulberry tree, historically linked to silk production, reflects the brand’s commitment to tradition and elegance.

Beyond its association with quality and heritage, the mulberry also holds personal significance. Founder Roger Saul, deeply connected to the English countryside, drew inspiration from its scenic landscapes. This resulted in a logo that seamlessly blends classic British style with modern innovation.
