AIが紡ぐ“現代の悟り”と幸福への道
オーストラリア・メルボルンを拠点とするアート&テクノロジースタジオENESSによる「Modern Guru and the Path to Artificial Happiness」が、2024年FRAME Exhibition of the Yearを受賞した。本展はAI技術を駆使したインタラクティブなインフレータブル作品と深い物語性を融合させた先鋭的な展示である。

「Modern Guru and the Path to Artificial Happiness」はAI時代における幸福や知恵、スピリチュアリティについて考察しながら、観覧者に“もう一つの現代の悟り”を体感させる。中心となるキャラクター「Modern Guru」は訪問者が写真を撮影する動きを感知し、AIが生成する“智慧”を伝える存在だ。展示は各地の文化や会場に合わせて再構成され、技術的・芸術的な限界に挑みつつ、物語も進化し続けている。
世界中の文化と共鳴する「進化する展示」
初回開催地のフランス・Centre d'art à Châteaugironで小規模なインスタレーションとしてデビューした本展は、台湾で1000平方メートルに拡大。その後、タイではAIゲームやナレーション、対話型キャラクターが追加され、展示の内容が大きく進化した。さらに、現在展示中のフランス・ロワール渓谷に位置する「シャトー・ロワイヤル・ド・ブロワ」では、AIの環境への影響が作品に新たに組み込まれ、現代の問題意識が反映されている。

特徴的なキャラクターと体験型アート
本展の象徴的なキャラクター「Modern Guru」は4つの大きなデジタルアイを持つ半透明の楕円体で、LEDのリング上に浮かぶ。観覧者が写真を撮るとAIが新たな“智慧”を生成し、メッセージを届ける仕組みとなっており、そのメッセージには「誰もが見過ごしたものを讃えよ」といった、AIが導く未来の知恵への問いが込められている。

サステナビリティと技術的挑戦
本展は持続可能性にも配慮し、硬質な材料を最小限に抑えインフレータブル素材を活用。展示に使用される布地はリサイクルされ、プラスチック素材として再利用される。 NESS創設者であるニムロッド・ワイスは 「インフレータブルを絵画や木炭のように一つの媒体と捉え、その限界を探求している」と語り、空気圧とエンジニアリング技術を駆使した独自のアプローチを示している。
