「見たい」という欲望を叶えた装置で見えた歴史に思いをはせる

鈴木のぞみ個展「The Mirror, the Window, and the Telescope」がポーラ美術館で2024年12月1日（日）まで開催中。本展は過去にポーラ美術振興財団の助成を受けた作家を紹介する、今回で16回目を迎える展覧会シリーズ「HIRAKU Project」としての展示。写真の原理を用いて、身近な日用品や古い家屋に潜む記憶や光の痕跡を可視化し、オブジェとイメージによってインスタレーションを生み出す鈴木のぞみの作品を展示している。

鈴木は大学で絵画を専攻していたが、独学で写真技術を学び始め、2012年に自身のアトリエであった築90年の古民家の木枠付き窓ガラスを用いて作品を制作。その窓から見えたであろう風景を撮影し、感光乳剤を塗布した窓ガラスそのものに焼き付けた。鈴木は、こうした日常のありふれたものに宿る「事物の記憶」を浮かび上がらせ、ものに直接定着させることを試みている。その後2019年に渡英し、船の窓や望遠鏡、ルーペといった様々な遺物や視覚装置を入手し、その来歴を調査。人類の視覚体験や近代化を切り開いてきた科学や技術の進歩、ある時代や社会が共有する感覚や嗜好性を反映したイメージをそれらに焼き付け、「大衆の記憶」を暗示するような作品へと昇華させた。

鈴木のぞみ

1983年埼玉県生まれ。埼玉県在住。2007年東京造形大学造形学部美術学科絵画専攻卒業。2015年東京藝術大学大学院美術研究科修士課程修了。2022年同大学院博士後期課程修了。2016年「VOCA展2016 現代美術の展望―新しい平面の作家たち」（上野の森美術館）VOCA奨励賞受賞。2018年度ポーラ美術振興財団在外研修員（イギリス）。

近年の主な個展に、「Words of Light（光の言葉）」第一生命ギャラリー（東京、2024年）、「The Rings of Saturn / Mirror with a Memory」rin art association（群馬、2021年）など。

主なグループ展に、「セレンディピティ 日常のなかの予期せぬ素敵な発見」東京都写真美術館（2023年）、「潜在景色」アーツ前橋（群馬、2022年）、「無垢と経験の写真 日本の新進作家 vol.14」東京都写真美術館（2017年）、「NEW VISION SAITAMA 5 迫り出す身体」埼玉県立近代美術館（2016年）などがある。作品は東京都写真美術館、アーツ前橋、ガトーフェスタ ハラダなどに収蔵されている。
