AOKI studied classical mural techniques at the Tokyo University of the Arts and incorporates those techniques into her work using collage, acrylic, watercolor, pencil, and crayon to create multi-layered compositions. Her works are known for their beauty, delicacy, and transparent, fresh quality. Her iconic "Memories of the Waterside" series, which layers various shades of blue to express the gentle ripples on the water's surface, is particularly noteworthy. In this exhibition, AOKI will also showcase works in warm tones that evoke the essence of autumn, richly capturing the changing colors of trees and the subtle shifts in the atmosphere as the seasons progress.

Artist Statement

Transient Moments

The word 'impermanence' comes to mind when working close to nature.
Nothing remains the same; all things are born, change, and eventually perish.
The act of gathering fragments of memories through collage techniques to createlandscape paintings seems like an effort to preserve my own memories, whichwill one day fade away.
However, I also see it as a means of creating something new as an artist andsharing it with the viewer.
In recent years, I have been creating works that follow the seasons, and inthis work, I have added the keyword "the passage of time. It is precisely because"time is given equally to everyone" that we strive to cherish eachday and live every moment to the fullest, and I believe that by sharing theweight and joy of time, we can appreciate life more deeply.
Perhaps life is beautiful and fleeting because it is finite.
