Galleries Matter More Than Ever / 今、ギャラリーに注目したい

In a time of economic uncertainty, galleries continue to thrive and play a crucial role in the art world. They provide a space for artists to share their work, foster artistic dialogues, and bring people together through creativity. More than just exhibition spaces, galleries serve as cultural hubs that keep the art scene alive and dynamic. As someone who loves exploring the ever-evolving art landscape, I want to shine a light on some of my favorite galleries in Paris—places that continue to push creative boundaries and make the city’s art scene so inspiring.

Focus on Porte B.: “Is There a Room for Game?”

Currently, I’m thrilled to be part of the group exhibition "Is There a Room for Game?" at Porte B., running through May 10, 2025. This show, curated in collaboration with architect and art critic Agathe Anglionin, explores the intersection of play and art, inviting visitors to reconsider how games influence our perception and interaction with art.

Porte B. is not your typical white cube gallery. Founded by Charlotte Delafond, it offers a dynamic, modular space that adapts to each exhibition. The gallery's design encourages experimentation and interaction, serving as a "decompression chamber" that invites visitors to immerse themselves in the art .

The current exhibition features works by Tiffany Bouelle, Eri Maeda, Romain Lalire, Camille Ménard, Vincent Marcq, and Victor Cord’homme. Each artist brings a unique perspective to the theme, creating an engaging and thought-provoking experience.

About Porte B.: A Unique Art Experience

What sets Porte B. apart from other galleries in Paris is its innovative, ever-evolving approach to both art and space. This gallery isn’t just about showcasing art—it’s about creating a living, breathing space where experimentation and interaction are encouraged. The name “Porte B” itself evokes a sense of threshold, inviting visitors to step into a world that challenges conventional boundaries.

The gallery’s design is modular and flexible, which allows it to change and adapt depending on the exhibition. Whether you’re experiencing a solo show or a group exhibition, the space feels alive and responsive to the works displayed within it. This adaptability creates an immersive experience, where the art feels in dialogue with the space itself.

One of the most interesting aspects of Porte B is its focus on fostering interaction between the art and the audience. The space is intentionally designed to be a "decompression chamber," where visitors are encouraged to engage with the works not just as passive observers, but as active participants in the experience. It’s a place that feels less like a traditional gallery and more like a creative laboratory—always pushing the boundaries of how we engage with art.

Whether you’re a seasoned art lover or someone just beginning to explore the art world, Porte B. offers a refreshing and engaging environment. It’s a gallery that asks questions, challenges norms, and invites visitors to experience art in a completely new way. If you haven’t yet visited, this is definitely one of the spots to check out in Paris.
