International Architecture Competitions Exploring Design and Writing under the Theme “Future Nostalgia in Architecture”

The Association of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage (ASA) is currently accepting entries for two international architecture competitions: the "Experimental Design Competition 2025" and the "International Abstract Competition 2025". ADF (NPO Aoyama Design Forum) is supporting the initiative in partnership with ASA. The deadline for entries to the Experimental Design Competition 2025 is Wednesday, 9 April 2025, 23:59:59 (Thai time), while the deadline for the International Abstract Competition 2025 is Friday, 4 April 2025, 23:59:59 (Thai time). The International Abstract Competition 2025 is open until 23:59:59 (Thai time) on 4 April 2025.

Experimental Design Competition 2025

A global design competition exploring the fusion of memory and the future through architecture, cities, and space

This competition invites architects, designers, students, and the general public to submit design proposals addressing the theme “Future Nostalgia in Architecture”. There are no restrictions on location or scale. Participants may select any site globally, with a special emphasis on using Thailand as a case study.

Submission Requirements
  • Site and contextual analysis diagrams
  • Conceptual drawings and design intent
  • Plans, sections, elevations (any scale)
  • Renderings or perspectives
  • A concise written explanation of the theme response
About the Theme

“Future Nostalgia” is an architectural approach that reinterprets past culture, landscapes, and memories through contemporary thinking and technology. The goal is not merely to evoke the past, but to create new spatial meaning across time, place, people, and nature.

International Abstract Competition 2025

A competition for architectural thought expressed in words – Call for philosophical and spatial essays

The competition in this category is not about blueprints, but about expressing architectural ideas and philosophies through writing. Based on the theme ‘Plug-in architecture for a better tomorrow’, the competition seeks new architectural perspectives on temporality, memory, culture and the link between society and space. The international competition is open to a wide range of practitioners, researchers and students.
