"Fantasy Mode: Madness to Dress Up, or Surrealism" Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum
Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum hosts the exhibition "Fantasy Fashion: Madness to Dress Up, or Surrealism" from January 15, 2022 to April 10, 2022. Surrealism, the greatest art movement of the 20th century, transcended the boundaries of art and profoundly influenced people's consciousness. The expressions of outstanding creators, creating innovative designs and trying to be ahead of the times, sometimes overlap with the idea of surrealism, and even in the world of fashion we get a glimpse of novel ideas common to surrealism. This exhibition also features a group of works related to the sensibility of surrealism, under the theme of "fantasy" from our contemporary perspective. It includes a wide range from historical fashion plates from the 16th century to contemporary artworks. While looking at the influence of surrealism on fashion as a perspective, the exhibition approaches the expression of beauty that stirred the world of fashion with its free creativity and ideas.

Venue: Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum (Main Building + New Building)
