POP-UP MANIA #6 Pop-up diary in Tokyo

After a short break, Pop Up Mania returns with renewed energy. What are the first events of 2026? Let's discover them together.

Shiseido “Future Solution LX POP-UP Event”

Mitsukoshi Isetan Store, Shinjuku
9th – 13th of January 2026

Hosted in the Isetan space in Shinjuku, the SHISEIDO pop-up showcases products from the“Future Solution LX” line through a striking, scenographic display. The space reinterprets the tearoom in a contemporary way, creating an immersive and refined experience entirely dedicated to skincare. The display is made even more captivating by the collaboration with HOSOO, a historic brand of traditional Kyoto fabrics. Exclusive sets combining skincare and craftsmanship were created for the occasion. HOSOO fabrics decorate walls, installations, chairs, bags, and clutches. A staff member told me a particularly intriguing detail: when photographing the fabric with a flash, the color changes in the image. For the pop-up, HOSOO's Nishijin fabrics, inspired by the “concept of Haku”, envelop the space with soft, iridescent reflections. The surfaces react to light and movement, evoking a slow, suspended time. The story recounts centuries of craftsmanship, transforming skincare into a sensorial ritual, where beauty is perceived, layered, and continues to evolve.

Dior “Spring Summer 2026 POP-UP”

Mitsukoshi Isetan Store,  Shinjuku
14th – 20th of January 2026

With this pop-up, Dior presents the new collection designed by its new creative director, Jonathan Anderson, marking the beginning of a new era for the House.

One of the most significant changes to its debut was the change in logo: no longer “Christian Dior”, but simply “Dior”, accompanied by a simpler, more essential font.

The space, conceived as an immersive experience where fashion, culture, and storytelling intertwine, recalls the atmosphere of the historic boutique on Avenue Montaigne, reinterpreting its codes with a contemporary twist.

On display, the new collection stands out for its vibrant colors and small decorative details - ladybugs, bees, and four-leaf clovers - that embellish the Spring-Summer 2026 collection, emphasizing the attention to symbolism and detail.

Particular attention is paid to the theme of the “Art of Gifting”, with installations that celebrate the gesture of giving as an aesthetic and emotional experience. Emblematic in this sense is an installation that places a bag at the center of a curled plexiglass frame, decorated with the Maison's iconic “cannage motif”, which recalls tissue paper or the fabric used to wrap Dior gift boxes.

CHANEL “CHANCE Eau Splendid”

Omotesando Crossing Park, Omotesando
23rd of January – 14th of February 2026

The launch of Chanel's new fragrance “Chance Eau Splendide” is a true sensory journey, engaging the public from the chromatic dimension to interactive activities.

The Omotesando Crossing Park structure is flanked by a temporary space dedicated to the brand experience, with a dramatic entrance highlighted by a sequence of arches that invites visitors into an immersive environment.

The pop-up's predominant colors are black and white, always linked to Chanel's identity, along with violet - in various shades - recalling the color of the “Chance Eau Splendide” fragrance.

The interior of the first space is entirely decorated with mirrored panels arranged in a zigzag pattern. Games such as the olfactory slot machine, based on the notes of the perfume, and a hoop-throw game featuring a large bottle sculpture - in which participants try to hit the circle to receive a “lucky” message - along with dynamic chromatic lights, enliven the visitor experience.

In addition to the installations, the area includes a fragrance bar, where you can try all the fragrances from the Chance line, including the featured one, as well as the new body and bath products launched for the occasion.

The talent of pop-ups to transform a temporary space into a memorable experience continues to amaze and captivate us, because they intensely concentrate creativity and identity in a short space of time.

Ephemeral yet powerful spaces, where displays, lights, and colors create immersive micro-worlds. Not just commercial spaces, but experiences to be lived, photographed, and recounted.
