A poetic exploration of graphic design
The Design Center at UQAM (Université du Québec à Montréal) in Montreal, Canada, is hosting a solo exhibition by French artist and graphic designer Fanette Merlier titled “Versicolore: The Graphic World of Fanette Merlier” from September 18 to November 9, 2025. The exhibition showcases her diverse expressions across various media, including books, posters, animations, objects, and installations.

Curated by UQAM professor emeritus and design researcher Marc H. Choko, the exhibition reveals Mellier's singular design language through experimental works, collaborative pieces with writers and musicians, as well as more conventional commissions approached with creative freedom. The installation—composed of texts, quotes, and visuals—offers insight into Mellier's reflections on graphic design practice. Her passion for creating highly diverse graphic objects and her desire to share that joy with others through educational tools and games are evident throughout the exhibition. The projects on view explore both her client relationships and her classical or experimental responses to design briefs, ultimately inviting the viewer into a dreamlike experience.
