Combining Sculptural Aluminium Forms with a Scalable System

Lighting brand MOSS Objects has introduced Dune, a modular pendant lighting collection designed by German designer Daniel Becker. Inspired by the shifting topography of sand dunes, the series transforms the landscape's fluid, continuously changing forms into a system of interconnected aluminium elements that can be configured across a wide range of architectural settings.

Rather than a single luminaire, Dune functions as a scalable collection of compositions. Individually formed aluminium shades are linked together to create fixtures ranging from four to twenty units, available in five configurations: Curve, Cluster, Spiral, Vertical Line, and Vertical Cluster. This flexibility allows the system to be adapted to projects of varying scales, from residential kitchen islands to multi-storey hospitality and commercial interiors.

Each aluminium shade is shaped from sheet metal, resulting in softly curved geometries that interact dynamically with light. The collection's formal language draws directly from dune landscapes, where volume emerges through gradual transitions rather than defined edges. Connected at their outermost points, the modular elements create continuous lines of illumination that expand and contract in response to architectural space.

Handmade in Germany, Dune is offered in five standard finishes: Silver Anodised, Silver Polished, Gold Tone, Copper Tone, and Dark Bronze Tone. While the silver finishes emphasize the material qualities of aluminium and reinforce the collection's architectural character, the warmer metallic tones are intended for residential and hospitality environments. Custom finishes are also available.

The collection was recently recognized with an iF Design Award 2025, highlighting its combination of sculptural expression, material craftsmanship, and adaptable modular design.

MOSS Objects

MOSS Objects is an independent lighting brand creating architectural luminaires defined by structural clarity and sculptural restraint. The brand explores light as a spatial element, rather than a technical necessity, designing pieces that hold presence through proportion, balance, and material precision.

At the core of MOSS Objects is a modular approach to construction. Each luminaire is built as a system, capable of evolving, extending, or adapting, while maintaining design continuity. Materials such as aluminium, brass, steel, and oak are selected for their integrity and longevity, expressed through exacting connections and refined surface treatments.
