Julie Hawkins’ eponymous firm brings a personalized, intimate approach to these winery tasting rooms and restaurants

As one of Northern California’s emerging interior design firms, Hawkins Interiors is sought after for its chic and personable approach to curating spaces that highlight the firm's ability to have deep and meaningful relationships with its clientele. For founder Julie Hawkins, Napa Valley, the surrounding Northern California region, and her travels around the globe have been an endless source of inspiration for the studio. It has led to a career-long investigation into the relationship between natural beauty and how to create spaces individuals can immerse themselves into to create deep and meaningful connections - all of which define her signature palettes and materials.

"When approaching hospitality projects, it is important to create spaces that organically pull you in and offer a moment of respite.  Our goal always is to deliver to our clients, beautiful and functional spaces that by design, and as a reflection of our intent, foster connection."  Hawkins.

The firm brings an inviting touch to its growing portfolio, which includes hospitality and residential spaces. To date, their work spans the West Coast, from Northern California to Oregon, and as far as the Midwest.

Recent Northern California hospitality projects include:

Mira Winery & Hospitality House

Hawkins Interiors collaborated on the 1,300-square-foot indoor, private tasting room, Mira Winery & Hospitality House in Yountville, CA with VRA Architects. Designed to achieve a curated balance of old and new world sensibilities, the warm and inviting space is punctuated by a sense of sophistication. From inside, guests can gaze through French iron doors that open up views to the mountains and beyond. Outside, the patio is furnished simply with a wood table and chairs, providing the perfect spot to take in the landscape and enjoy a moment of respite and solitude. Standout project vendors and manufacturers include Stark Carpet, Lee Industries, Jeff Menchaca, Zia Tile, and Cement Tile Store.

Calistoga Restaurant & Brewery

Nestled in the quaint town of Calistoga, this long-adored local restaurant and bar, Calistoga Restaurant & Brewery packs a big design punch. Always bustling with locals and tourists alike, the cool and classic design palette brings a level of unexpected sophistication to the popular region. For the outdoor garden which abuts the Napa River, Hawkins Interiors worked with Ann Baker Landscape Architecture to design an inviting space with various configurations, from a communal picnic-style table to cozy loungers by the fire. Standout project vendors and manufacturers include Farrow & Ball, Rejuvenation, Urban Lumber Company, and Fermob.

Larkmead Winery

For this special project, Hawkins Interiors collaborated with the winery owner, an established artist, to create tasting rooms that truly feel like home at Larkmead Winery. The estate consists of several different, unique rooms, each with its own special moments. To enhance the welcoming vibe desired by the clients, Hawkins designed living room-style spaces where guests would want to linger for hours. Standout project vendors and manufacturers include Stark Carpet, Palecek, McGuire, Serena & Lily, Restoration Hardware, Paul Ferrante, and Lee Industries.

Larkmead Winery: Designed by Backen Gillam Architects, Hawkins Interiors refreshed the décor and worked with landscape architect Ann Baker and artist Kate Baker to extend the living room’s cozy vibe onto the patio.
