Voice Architecture Lab (VAL) has been named the Popular Choice Winner in the Factory & Warehouse category at the 13th Architizer A+Awards, earning international recognition for its design of the WuXi AppTec Nantong site (Phase I).

Situated near the Yangtze River Delta, the research and development campus is a flagship facility for WuXi AppTec. The complex brings together administrative offices, laboratories, warehouses, and other key functions within a carefully choreographed layout.

The master plan features eight primary structures organized into two clusters, creating an east–west topography that subtly rises and falls across the site. A Z-shaped laboratory building interlocks with the R\&D office wing to form a distinctive urban frontage, establishing a landmark presence for the pharmaceutical campus.

Architecturally, the project balances function with form. White vertical elements on the façade double as shading devices while simplifying the building’s complex programmatic requirements. Generous use of natural light and ventilation further reinforces the sense of a modern, forward-looking research environment.

The resulting design, VAL notes, is more than a technical facility. It is conceived as a place where science, industry, and people converge—a spatially rich, enduring setting that embodies the rigor and ambition of next-generation drug development.
