A Sanctuary that Realizes Symbiosis with Nature
Selvadentro is a development located in the Quintana Roo jungle, just minutes from Tulum’s beach, with strategic access via the Maya Train station and the new regional airport. The complex is designed as a 103-hectare habitable sanctuary for those seeking an authentic connection with nature and a lifestyle based on respect, coexistence, and harmony with the environment. The project has been developed comprehensively by Estudio AMA, who not only designed the homes and amenities but also its graphic identity. Every element has been carefully crafted to highlight the site’s natural wealth and create an immersive experience that blurs the boundaries between architecture and landscape.
The master plan is divided into four phases, connected by a central spine that links the residences with the amenities. To preserve the natural balance, only 30% of each plot can be developed, leaving the rest untouched and allowing the original vegetation to continue flourishing. The construction regulations require a 10-meter setback in the front, 10 meters at the rear, and 7 meters on the sides. Additionally, the architecture must be raised 60 cm above ground level, allowing the vegetation to flow freely beneath the structures, ensuring full integration with the jungle and creating a unique immersive experience. To minimize environmental impact, the project incorporates sustainable design strategies, respecting the natural topography and using local materials with traditional construction techniques. The main road is made of gravel, ensuring access without disrupting the natural surroundings, contributing to a minimal environmental impact and enhancing the integration of the development with its environment.
Here's an introduction of the amenities:
House of the Cenotes
The heart of the development, a clubhouse inspired by the cenotes, designed with minimal environmental impact. Its pool blends into the surrounding water landscape, while the restaurant and bar area offer culinary experiences that highlight the region’s richness.
Nidos - Observation Deck
An elevated structure that offers a visual immersion into the jungle. The lookout, set within a cenote, begins six meters below ground level and spirals upward to a 360-degree platform. Designed with a wooden frame and an enveloping mesh, the structure naturally blends into the landscape and is intended to be gradually reclaimed by vegetation. At its highest point, it serves as a space to pause, breathe, and take in the vastness of the jungle.
Tree House
This is the second largest gathering area in Selvadentro, featuring multiple levels of recreational spaces, a bar, and relaxation zones.
Wellness
A wellness sanctuary carved into a cave, just before reaching a cenote, designed to offer relaxation experiences in a one-of-a-kind natural setting.
Jungle Bar
A hidden retreat within a natural basin, where the architecture blends with the jungle. Surrounded by lush vegetation, this space invites you to enjoy handcrafted cocktails in an intimate and organic atmosphere.
Holistic Pavilion
An introspective space dedicated to yoga and meditation, where architecture and nature come together to create a serene retreat for inner connection.
Kids Jungle
A play area that blends with the landscape, using natural elements like logs and vines to encourage exploration and learning.
Jungle Gym
An outdoor gym integrated with the surroundings, where local materials shape structures for functional training in harmony with nature.
Pets Jungle
A space designed for pets to enjoy the jungle in its purest form, with spacious and safe areas for running and exploring freely.
The homes in Selvadentro are designed to enhance the experience of living in the jungle. Each space prioritizes cross-ventilation, natural light, and a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor areas, allowing the architecture to blend with
the environment.
