Dezeen unveils 57 of the world's best buildings

Dezeen has announced the architecture shortlist for this year's Dezeen Awards, which includes buildings by MVRDV, MAD and the late Richard Rogers. Aoyama Design Forum proudly supports the award this year again. The 57 shortlisted projects, which are in the running for awards in 11 different architecture project categories, are located across 24 different countries including Vietnam, UK, Iran, Japan, USA and India.

The top three represented countries are China with 10 shortlisted entries followed by Mexico and Australia with six each. Five projects are shortlisted in each architecture category except the cultural building category, which has six including a museum archive in the Netherlands and a beer factory converted into a contemporary art museum in Tehran. Other shortlisted projects include a Mexican cross-laminated timber clubhouse, an art deco seawater lido in Cornwall and a twisted steel-framed visitor centre in Greenland.

The shortlists were scored by our architecture jury which includes Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto, principal of CmDesign Atelier Tosin Oshinowo, Stefano Boeri Architetti founder Stefano Boeri and Pakistani architect Yasmeen Lari. All shortlisted projects will also feature in their own dedicated Dezeen post. The winner of each project category will be announced online in November. All 11 winners will then go on to compete for the title of architecture project of the year.
