A Contemporary Design Collection Exploring Architectural Structure and Light
Czech crystal house Moser has unveiled “Axis,” a limited-edition collection created in collaboration with Rotterdam-based designer Laurids Gallée. Marking Gallée’s first exploration of glass, the collection brings his sculptural language into dialogue with Moser’s 169-year tradition of hand-crafted crystal.
The collection comprises a vase, a bottle, and two glass-and-coaster sets, drawing inspiration from early 20th-century modernist architecture. Each piece is conceived as a study in light — not simply reflected on the surface, but directed, refracted, and held within the body of the object itself. Through geometric forms, light is organised into shifting layers of depth and rhythm, reinforcing the collection’s architectural presence.
Wedge Cuts Define the Structure of Light
A defining feature of the “Axis” collection is the use of wedge cuts, an exacting cutting technique that demands absolute precision. Rather than functioning as decoration, these cuts form the structural basis of each object. Even the slightest deviation becomes visible, requiring accuracy within a tenth of a millimetre. The production process involves master cutter Miroslav Maděra, whose more than three decades of experience play a central role in achieving the clarity and sharp definition required by the designs. From glassblowing to the final polishing stage, every process is completed by hand and relies on deep material knowledge and precise control.

Speaking about the collaboration, Laurids Gallée stated:“Pushing the absolute limits of what is technically possible is what excites me most. I have immense respect for the craftsmanship of the team at Moser, who not only met those challenges, but pushed them even further.
The Rosalin Colour Spectrum
The collection is produced in Moser’s signature “Rosalin” tone, ranging from deeper rose hues to near-transparent crystal. Depending on thickness, angle, and light, the colour subtly shifts in intensity. Rather than being applied as a surface treatment, the colour is embedded directly within the material itself, creating a dynamic visual depth.
