Creating a Moment where Visitors Could Sit with the Monsters and Reflect on the Strange and Often Hidden Parts of Human Behavior<\/h3>\r\n

I<\/span>n February, I presented my solo exhibition \u201cCome Meet the Monsters\u201d with the Triquetra Artist Collective<\/a> in Paris.<\/p>\r\n

I am Eri Maeda, a Japanese ceramic artist based in Paris creating expressive contemporary ceramic sculptures. My hand-built stoneware creatures combine bright colors, exaggerated forms, and playful personalities. These monster-like figures reflect the hidden emotions and social tensions that shape everyday human behavior.<\/p>\r\n

With this exhibition, I wanted visitors not only to observe the sculptures but also to share space with them. Two moments became central to the experience: the vernissage and a collaborative dinner.<\/p>\r\n

During the vernissage, visitors encountered the monsters for the first time. People moved through the gallery surrounded by curious, awkward, and mischievous ceramic creatures, each with its own personality.<\/p>\r\n

The following evening, I organized Dining With Monsters, a dinner created in collaboration with chef Liza Ivanova. For this event, she designed a menu inspired by the sculptures. I specifically asked for fermented elements to be included in the dishes.<\/p>\r\n

Fermentation interested me because it is something invisible but alive, quietly growing and transforming over time. In a similar way, the creatures in my work represent emotions and instincts that develop beneath the surface.<\/p>\r\n

By bringing together ceramic sculpture, food, and shared experience at Triquetra Artist Collective, I wanted to create a moment where visitors could sit with the monsters and reflect on the strange and often hidden parts of human behavior.<\/p>\r\n
