I am Eri Maeda, a Japanese contemporary ceramic artist based in Paris.<\/p>\r\n

I recently took part in the launch exhibition of Artenae in Paris. I was invited to join a group show with 25 artists, each presenting two to three works, creating a diverse and dynamic exhibition of contemporary art.<\/p>\r\n

The vernissage brought together a large audience, including collectors, curators, and art professionals. The space was active, with many conversations unfolding around the works.<\/p>\r\n

Discovering Artenae Through My Work<\/h4>\r\n

For this exhibition, I presented three ceramic sculptures, continuing my exploration of hybrid, creature-like forms that move between familiarity and discomfort.<\/p>\r\n

Artenae is an online gallery dedicated to contemporary art, supporting artists, projects, and curators. It offers a space where my work can circulate beyond my studio in Paris and reach a wider audience.

About Artenae<\/h4>\r\n

Artenae is conceived as both a curatorial and collective platform. It supports artists at different stages, from production to presentation and visibility.<\/p>\r\n

By fostering dialogue between artists, curators, and collectors, it contributes to a contemporary art scene that is diverse, accessible, and forward-looking.<\/p>\r\n

Following the exhibition, eleven of my works are now available on Artenae, including ceramic sculpture and photography.<\/p>\r\n

My Ceramic Practice<\/h4>\r\n

As a Japanese ceramic artist working in Paris, my work is shaped by personal and cultural experience.<\/p>\r\n

I create hand-built ceramic sculptures using stoneware. My forms often emerge as hybrid, creature-like presences that appear soft or playful at first, but gradually reveal tension.<\/p>\r\n

Growing up in Japan, I became aware of unspoken rules around behavior, gender, and emotional expression. These invisible structures continue to inform my work.<\/p>\r\n

Studio in Paris<\/h4>\r\n

I work from my ceramic studio MONO in the 18th arrondissement of Paris (12 rue Calmels, 75018).<\/p>\r\n

This is where I develop my work through an intuitive and experimental process, allowing forms to evolve through making.<\/p>\r\n

Ongoing Work<\/h4>\r\n

Based in Paris, I continue to expand my practice as a contemporary ceramic artist, pushing toward more expressive and experimental sculptural forms.<\/p>\r\n

I am interested in creating work that holds ambiguity, contradiction, and emotional complexity.<\/p>\r\n
