A Japan-France Two-Person Exhibition Connecting Imagination Across Generations and Cultures<\/h3>\r\n

G<\/span>inza New Gallery<\/a> will host the two-person exhibition \u300cLiaisons Imaginaires : GO YAYANAGI, FABIEN VERSCHAERE<\/a>\u300d featuring two artists representing Japan and France, Tsuyoshi Yanagi and Fabien Verch\u00e8re, from February 6 to February 28, 2026. Though separated by generation, geography, and cultural context, both artists construct expansive visual worlds in which inner visions and collective narratives intertwine. The exhibition presents these practices within a single space, inviting reflection on the forms imagination can take.\"<\/a><\/p>\r\n

Go Yayanagi<\/h4>\r\n

For nearly seven decades, Go Yayanagi developed a practice shaped by a cosmopolitan life and a deep sensitivity to nature. Living and working in Brazil, Africa, and Paris, he emerged as one of the pioneering Japanese artists to synthesize international avant-garde movements with indigenous aesthetics. His distinctive artistic language\u2014marked by vivid chromatic planes, biomorphic forms, and rhythmic black-and-white lines\u2014culminated in what he termed\u3000Pop-Uki. This concept represents a poetic fusion of global modernism and personal symbolism. Yayanagi\u2019s works are held in major museum collections in Japan, France, and Brazil.<\/p>\r\n

Fabien Verschaere<\/h4>\r\n

Fabien Verschaere is a graduate of the \u00c9cole des Beaux-Arts de Paris. Drawing on personal mythology and shared cultural memory, he creates immersive, dreamlike universes.Working across painting, drawing, film, and installation, Verschaere populates his narratives with fantastical hybrid beings, weaving together medieval allegory, pop culture, and emotional introspection. His work has been widely exhibited in Europe and Asia, including at the Palais de Tokyo, the Grand Palais, and the Museum of Modern Art of Saint-\u00c9tienne M\u00e9tropole.<\/p>\r\n

Imagination as Dialogue<\/h4>\r\n

In dialogue, Yayanagi\u2019s ecological, kaleidoscopic visions and Verschaere\u2019s introspective, myth-laden worlds generate unexpected resonances. Liaisons Imaginaires proposes imagination itself as a bridge\u2014one that transcends borders, generations, and artistic languages\u2014reflecting the enduring vitality of Franco-Japanese cultural exchange.<\/p>\r\n

First Exhibition Since Yayanagi\u2019s Passing<\/h4>\r\n

Marking the first exhibition of Go Yayanagi\u2019s work since his passing in 2025, Liaisons Imaginaires also serves as a concise retrospective, bringing together works from different periods of his long and multifaceted career.<\/p>\r\n
