ARCHIDEX 2026 expands beyond a trade exhibition by integrating conferences, cultural programming and policy discussions to position itself as a key platform shaping the future of Southeast Asia's built environment.

ARCHIDEX 2026 will return from 29 July to 1 August at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), bringing together architecture, construction, real estate and urban development professionals for one of Asia's largest annual gatherings focused on the built environment. By combining the exhibition with the DATUM architectural conference and the Kuala Lumpur Architecture Festival (KLAF), the event aims to create a broader platform that extends beyond product showcases to include cultural exchange, professional dialogue and policy discussions.  The NPO Aoyama Design Forum (ADF) supports the event as one of the media partners.

The integration of the three events reflects a growing emphasis on architecture's influence beyond buildings, highlighting its role in shaping cities, public life and everyday experiences. KLAF 2026 adopts the theme "Festivals," exploring how architecture interacts with culture through public programmes, installations and city-wide activities that connect design with community life.

The exhibition itself has been reorganised into three thematic floors across ten halls, offering visitors a more structured experience centred on emerging sectors within the industry. New features include Digital @ ARCHIDEX featuring smarteX, developed with Messe Frankfurt, which focuses on digital architecture, smart building technologies and other rapidly evolving technological solutions.

Additional exhibition segments examine changing workplace environments and hospitality design. World of Works (WoW) explores new approaches to office and collaborative spaces in response to evolving workplace expectations, while A Hospitality Anthology (aha) presents projects and products that prioritise user experience across hotels, resorts and lifestyle destinations.

Beyond product exhibitions, ARCHIDEX 2026 places greater emphasis on industry dialogue through the ASEAN Real Estate Conference (AREC), organised in collaboration with Malaysia's Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT). Under the theme "Rethinking Real Estates: Housing with Hearts," the conference will address issues including housing, urban development, investment and public policy, strengthening the event's role as a forum linking ideas with implementation.

Running alongside the exhibition, DATUM 2026 adopts the theme "Future Culture" and will feature 27 speakers from 16 countries over four days. The programme covers topics including tropical architecture, material innovation, artificial intelligence, immersive design and digital fabrication, with discussions intended to connect global developments with regional industry needs and future market trends.

Organisers position the combined programme as a venue where architecture, technology and business intersect. Alongside knowledge sharing, the event is intended to facilitate international partnerships, market expansion and commercial collaboration, enabling architects, developers, manufacturers and investors to exchange ideas and identify new opportunities.

The scale of the event reflects its regional ambitions. ARCHIDEX 2026 is expected to host nearly 900 exhibitors from 20 countries and regions and welcome approximately 40,000 visitors representing more than 110 countries and regions.

As Malaysia continues to address urban growth, climate challenges and changes in the construction sector, the discussions taking place during ARCHIDEX are expected to extend beyond the exhibition itself, informing future projects, investment strategies and development decisions across the region.
