An Urban Resort Concept that Respects the Value and Design of Existing Buildings
The Portuguese architecture office Openbook won the Architizer A+Awards International Prize in the Bars and Cellars category for a project of the Ritz Pool Bar at the Ritz Four Seasons Hotel Lisbon. The Ritz Pool Bar in Lisbon is an integral part of the project to renovate the terrace and galleries of the Ritz Four Seasons Hotel Lisbon. It's a project developed under the premise of respecting the existing architectural design of the building, as well as its significant historical, heritage, and architectural value.
The round Pool Bar was designed to be an integrated element in the urban resort concept developed for the terrace. With its organic design and total openness to the terrace, the bar invites you to enjoy a drink or a light meal. The terracotta tiles in shades of green and brown, designed by Openbook and produced by Viúva Lamego, blend in with the green of the surrounding garden.
This project also included exclusive pieces of furniture designed by NOBK - a brand belonging to Openbook Studio - namely the bar tables, which were designed to coexist harmoniously with the existing architecture, enhancing the sophisticated but relaxed atmosphere. This approach was complemented by the selection and design of the other pieces of furniture and a colour scheme that highlights and unifies the concept. This project also inspired the creation of Bugio, a solid bronze candle holder recently launched by NOBK.
Following this award, Openbook was included in Architizer's A+List: the directory of the world’s best architecture firms in 2024.
